P5 at Gladstone's Land

National Poetry Day

To celebrate National Poetry Day we spent this morning creating fantastic sensory poems all about walking through the Royal Mile in the 1600s. We shared our ideas on post-it notes and then each created our own poems. Some people also brought in poems from home which they read to the class. Fab work p5a!

Gladstone's Land

P5a really enjoyed their visit to Gladstone's Land today. We learned all about life in Edinburgh in the 1600s. We were particularly shocked to find out that back then children were only allowed to play TWICE a month!

The Eco team need your help!

Our Eco rep, Catherine, explained to us that the Eco team are looking to collect as many pine and fir cones as possible for our new playground. If you find any please bring them into class where Catherine will collect them. They are due in by the 23rd October. The house group in school that collects the most will get an extra play time! Get collecting p5!

Needs and wants

We had some interesting discussions about needs and wants today in p5. We had to sort a variety of items into those we felt were needs and those that were wants. Lots of interesting ideas were shared, good job p5a!

Congratulations to Sarah and Sam!

A big congratulations to Sarah and Sam in p5a for taking part in the ERC Inch Park Cyclecross. Keep it up!

Financial education

We have focused on financial education this week in primary 5. We started the week by giving the children the challenge of designing a community garden. They were given a budget which they needed to stick to and a simple brief. They then presented their finished designs to the rest of the class.
